Prior to joining Keker & Van Nest in 2008, Michael Gadeberg spent a year each in Honolulu and Los Angeles serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard R. Clifton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and to the Honorable Florence-Marie Cooper of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Michael received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 2006, graduating Order of the Coif. While at Berkeley, he was the head articles editor of the Ecology Law Quarterly and a teaching assistant for the first-year written and oral advocacy program and for an environmental law writing seminar.

Before law school, Michael worked as a freelance trombonist and composer. He appeared in film and television and led a jazz quintet. Michael graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music.

Michael is admitted to practice in California and before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is the author of "Presumptuous Preemption: How 'Plain-Meaning' Trumped Congressional Intent in Engine Manufacturers Association v. South Coast Air Quality Management District," 32 Ecology L.Q. 453 (2005).
