Matthew Werdegar has tried a variety of cases to verdict in state and federal courts. Matt's practice focuses on complex business and intellectual property litigation, including patent and copyright infringement and misappropriation of trade secret matters, securities fraud and insider trading investigations, and professional liability cases. Matt's recent clients have included Google, Intel, Broadcom, Comcast, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, as well as major law firms and numerous individuals.
Matt joined Keker & Van Nest in 2001 and became a partner in 2007. Before joining Keker & Van Nest, Matt served as a law clerk to Judge D. Lowell Jensen of the Northern District of California and Judge Procter Hug, Jr. of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Matt received his Juris Doctor degree from the Stanford Law School in 1998. While at Stanford, he served as the notes editor of the Stanford Law Review and was awarded the Order of the Coif. Matt received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors and distinction from Stanford University in 1991. In 1992, Matt was awarded a Marshall Scholarship and received a master's degree with distinction from the University of London in 1993.
Matt is admitted to practice before all California state and federal courts. Matt lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children.
